CANYON LAKE, TX – Record turn out, and a record payout as 59 teams (118 anglers) came out and over $5000 was paid out. Charles Whited and Lee Beuershausen followed up their 2nd place finish from the first event to take the top honors this week, and with them $1225 in prize money plus an additional $3000 in Skeeter Real Money. The team drew boat #6 and ran to their first spot and had their limit before the last team had even been released. They caught their fish on a wind blown bank that were mixed in with striper. The team mentioned they would catch a striper, then a black, then a striper then a black on nearly every cast. The team reported that all their fish came on swimbaits around brush.

2nd place went to Brad Nichols and Bobby Rodriguez, the last boat released. Like the winners, they pulled up to their first spot and quickly put 4 keepers in the boat fishing a drop shot and shakey heads on rocky points. They picked up their 5th keeper just before dark
and just about the same time most teams reported the bite to turn off. The team was awarded $550 for their 2nd place finish.

The weights from 2nd thru 5th were pretty close and all reported to have caught fish using different techniques in depths of 1 foot out to 20′ of water. Most teams reported to have caught several small fish, but the lower end of the lake appears to be producing better quality and quantity. 11 limits were weighed in but most mentioned the baits and areas they caught fish this week differed from last week.

Congrats to all those that cut a check and we’ll see you next week.
